BANFF FILM FESTIVAL 2025

Already for the eleventh time in Špindlerův Mlýn.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is an international film competition showcasing the best films in the world related to mountain themes.

The film festival is the culmination of several events including a book festival and a photography competition.

All of these events take place at the Banff Centre under the patronage of one of Canada's main cultural and educational institutions, Mountain Culture.

ANYTIME UTAH - 8 min.

In the harsh, arid landscape of Utah, a new era of women's mountain bike freeriding is dawning. Follow four pioneers as they carve unprecedented lines and push the boundaries of what is possible. Witness the evolution of the sport as the girls break down barriers, create new paths, and redefine the boundaries of women's riding. With every turn, fall, and jump, these pioneers leave their mark on the Utah terrain and inspire a whole generation of riders to follow in their footsteps.

KEEP IT BURNING - 33 min.

Karakoram is the wildest mountain range in the world, and the nameless Tower attracts climbers who come close. Edu Marín, his brother Alex, and their father Novato attempt the second free ascent of Eternal Flame – 33 years after the first ascent by Wolfgang Güllich and Kurt Albert, and 13 years after the first free ascent by Alex and Thomas Huber.

 

SOUL FLYERS - THE LONGEST LINE - 5 min.

THE SMOKE THAT THUNDERS - 4 min.

The goal is to navigate the legendary Minus rapids at the foot of Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River. But Ben Marr's biggest challenge is to get there by hiking upstream. A total assault on the senses awaits, because the power of the river speaks for itself.

 

THE STREIF - 3 min.

Fabio Wibmer is back on the snow. This time, he will complicate preparations for the most legendary ski race in the world – the Streif.
