The Luční bouda will be closed to the public from June, it will be for guests only.

The oldest tourist chalet in the Giant Mountains, Luční bouda, will be closed to the public from June, according to its owners, and will only be available to guests.

Other tourists will not be able to enter the chalet, i.e. they will not be able to buy refreshments or go to the toilet.

The owners of the Luční bouda decided to take this step after disputes with the Krkonoše National Park Administration (KRNAP), Nova TV reported on 29 May.

According to the owners, the administration of the Krkonoše National Park does not allow sufficient access to the building, especially for contractors, because entry to the Krkonoše rest zone is only allowed with a special permit, which the owners say is not easy to obtain for each contractor or car.

Radek Drahný, spokesman for the KRNAP Administration, responded to this by telling Nova TV: "The law clearly stipulates the entities that have the right to enter the quiet area and in the case of Luční bouda, everyone who applied for an exemption got it."

The park spokesman went on to say that there are 12 buildings in the protection zone of the Krkonoše National Park and only Luční bouda has a problem.

The owners of Luční bouda said that closing the hut to tourists does not only mean that it is impossible to refresh oneself on hikes in the Krkonoše.

The toilets will not be open and the Vrcholky hory rescue service, which is a member of the integrated rescue system, will also cease to function.
