Luční bouda, a major mountain facility with a capacity of 150 beds, a restaurant, and other services located in the heart of the Krkonoše National Park (KRNAP), has partially resumed operations.

From Saturday, August 9, the buffet and toilets are once again open to the public. However, the hotel restaurant remains open only to guests staying at the hotel or to non-guests with prior reservations.

This step follows negotiations between the owners and the Ministry of the Environment, which resulted in a compromise. The owners of Luční bouda state that they have received a promise regarding the procedure in crisis situations. In case of urgent need, such as the need for rapid intervention by a maintenance technician, they will be able to submit an online request for an exemption from the law to enter the territory administered by KRNAP. This process should significantly speed up the processing of the request.

However, the situation surrounding entry into KRNAP remains a source of tension. The owners of Luční bouda accuse KRNAP of harassment, which the park administration strongly denies. According to the owners, the park administration is illegally fining their suppliers for entering the property, thereby jeopardizing its proper operation. They point out that the same rules apply to more than ten other buildings located in the KRNAP quiet zone and in the national park's nature zone.

The KRNAP administration argues that it does not prevent the entry of supply or service vehicles that are necessary for the operation of Luční bouda. However, it emphasizes that it is not permissible for vehicles to enter the most sensitive parts of the national park without a valid exemption from the law. Such entry is then considered illegal.

Every vehicle that needs to enter the KRNAP territory must apply for a permit from the KRNAP Administration. The administration grants the exemption free of charge, and owners and tenants of properties in the quiet zone are entitled to this exemption by law. This regulation applies to all motor vehicles, including those that supply restaurants and accommodation facilities. However, some mountain hut operators point out that it often takes too long to process permits, which significantly complicates their daily operations. The dispute between Luční bouda and the KRNAP Administration continues, and it is clear that finding a permanent and mutually acceptable solution will require further negotiations and compromises.
