KRKONOŠE BEER TRAIL 2026

arrow-left30.5. - 30.9.2026
The Giant Mountains

The Krkonoše Beer Trail will take you on a journey through the region and the craft of brewing.

The most beautiful parts of the Krkonoše Mountains paired with excellent beer—these are the highlights of our highest mountains, where the Krkonoše Beer Trail is reopening.

Set out to conquer the only high-altitude beer trail in Europe, which this year has been expanded to include 3 microbreweries in the western Krkonoše Mountains.

Walk the trail from May 30 to September 30, 2026, and compete for prizes.

Get a stamp on your flyer at each brewery—all it takes is one small beer. A well-deserved reward awaits you at the finish line for stamps from five or eight breweries.

For five stamps, receive a one-third-liter beer glass made at the Harrachov Glassworks.

For eight stamps, a bonus prize—an original Krkonoše Beer Trail coaster.

Everyone who collects eight stamps from eight breweries will also be entered into a drawing for prizes—stays at individual breweries.

The Krkonoše Beer Trail will take you through the most beautiful parts of the highest Czech mountains. You can look forward to challenging hikes, breathtaking views, beer at mountain huts, and an atmosphere you won’t soon forget.

The entire route is 80 kilometers long—plan for at least four days and three nights at mountain huts. You can easily split the route into two branches (eastern and western) and use the facilities in Vrchlabí, which lies in the center of the mountain range and is easily accessible.

Or give yourself a reason to return. Hike part of the trail and collect more stamps during future visits to the Krkonoše Mountains.

Eastern Branch

The eastern section is the heart of the trail. It has an alpine character, runs within reach of Sněžka, and gives the Beer Trail its unique character—exceptional both within the country and across Europe. This is where the trail originated—at the breweries that gave it its first flavor.

Which breweries will you discover along the route?

Trautenberk Brewery in Malá Úpa

Pecký Brewery in Pec pod Sněžkou

Fries Brewery near Strážné

Hendrych Brewery in Vrchlabí

Krkonošský medvěd Brewery in Vrchlabí

Western Branch

The western route will slow your pace. It may lack the grandeur of the eastern section, but it makes up for it with tranquility and picturesque scenery. The landscape here opens up into wide meadows, among log cabins and along the Jizera River. You’ll climb to Hlídky na Stráži and pass through Rokytnice and Harrachov.

If you prefer to ride through the mountain landscape on your bike, that’s possible too. But savor the breweries in peace—perhaps at the end of the stage. Stay focused on the route and take in the mountains around you.

You’ll discover three breweries that have expanded the trail for 2026.

Novosad Brewery in Harrachov

U Čápa Brewery in Příchovice

Prdek Brewery in Paseky nad Jizerou

Participating Microbreweries

As you make your way along the trail, you’ll have the chance to taste unique beers from small local breweries. Each one has its own unique character and story. Perhaps the brewer himself will tell you the story, as you can visit most of the breweries on a guided tour and watch him at work.

Fries Brewery
Fries is made from Czech malt, hops, and spring water sourced directly from the Fries huts. Their lineup includes year-round classics such as a light lager, a semi-dark special, and a semi-dark ale.

The Fries huts also offer lodging and serve excellent food. While you cool your throat with a beer, you can give your legs a rest in a pleasantly cool pond after climbing the hills.

Trautenberk Brewery
They brew beer without pasteurization or filtration—crisp, refreshing, and always a little different. They regularly update their selection, so you’ll want to come back.

If you happen to overdo it a bit with the beer, you can also stay here. Either in rooms or in the so-called “sleeping bag room” with a capacity of 20 people. Don’t forget to grab a bite to eat here, too—the food is truly excellent, and there’s something for everyone in the wide selection.

Pecký Brewery
Sněžka beer references not only the place and landscape in its name. Every glass emphasizes the ingredients, purity, and the time the beer needs to mature. It offers a total of four types of beer with varying alcohol content and flavors.

At the adjacent Bouda Máma, which is part of the brewery, you can rest your head, relax in the newly built wellness center, or work up a sweat playing squash. You can also tour the production of this golden brew during a guided tour that includes tastings of the beers and other culinary specialties.

Hendrych Brewery
Full-bodied, bitter, and distinctive. Beer brewed so that you’ll always enjoy gathering with friends over it. It’s refreshing after a day out, but you’ll happily savor it all evening long.

The story of the Hendrych Brewery in Vrchlabí began with a dream of a family business that makes great Czech products. Ideas and plans took shape gradually. In 2012, they completed the necessary preparations and launched the beer in September. Since then, they’ve been committed to quality. You can enjoy it right at their brewery in Vrchlabí.

Krkonošský medvěd
The foundation of their production is a classic lager brewed in the traditional three-mash method. The flavor is rooted in honest craftsmanship and Žatec hops.

At the very beginning of the Krkonošský medvěd microbrewery in Vrchlabí, there was a natural well that draws water directly from the area known as “Vrchlabí Hell,” but don’t worry. The only thing the water has in common with hell is that it’s devilishly clean.

U Čápa Brewery
In the stone cellars of the U Čápa guesthouse, the Světoběžník beer matures, brewed with a passion for perfecting every detail. The entire grounds are equally well-curated, exuding a sense of love and respect for the place, the landscape, and the stories it holds.

The brewery’s flagship beer is the 12% unfiltered Světoběžník JC lager—dedicated to the memory of Jára Cimrman, who had a deep connection to this region.

Perlíček Brewery - Prdek
A pub where you’ll feel right at home—that’s Prdek. A cottage with sweeping views, perfect home-style cooking, and its own beer.

This bottom-fermented, unfiltered lager is brewed in a craft brewery using Pilsner malt, two types of hops, and spring water.

Novosad Brewery
Beer has always been a part of glassmaking. For glassmakers who spend all day in the heat of the furnace, it provides not only hydration but also essential minerals and energy. The same is true at the Harrachov Glassworks, which includes the Novosad Brewery.

They brew yeast-rich, unfiltered, and unpasteurized beers here—the light lager František, the dark lager Čerťák, and the 8° Huťské výčepní, which isn’t just for glassmakers. The complex also offers a beer spa, where you can fully experience the beneficial effects of the golden brew.
