The operator of the ski resorts in Špindlerův Mlýn has embarked on an extensive project with the aim of modernizing and connecting the resorts.

At the beginning of October, the ski resort operator obtained a key building permit from the Transport and Energy Construction Authority, which will enable the construction of two new cable cars: Hromovka 2 and Medvědín 2. This investment, which totals CZK 850 million, signals a significant step forward in the development of infrastructure and improving the experience of all skiers.

The project, the main part of which could be launched thanks to the recently issued building permit, includes the construction of the six-seater Hromovka 2 cable car, which is scheduled for completion in spring 2026. The chairlift itself, which is already in production at an Italian supplier, will be 1,415 meters long, with an elevation of 339 meters and a maximum transport capacity of 2,000 people per hour. The chairlift track will run over 10 support pillars.

The second cable car, a ten-seater gondola lift running via Bedřichov to Medvědín, will be built later. However, both cable cars will share a common lower station, strategically located on the northern shore of the Labská reservoir. This station will connect seamlessly to the new P1 ski terminal, ensuring easy and convenient access for skiers. The shared lower station will also serve as a base for the control rooms of both cable cars, staff facilities, cable car substations, transformer stations, and a depot for the gondola lift.

During the summer holidays, the ski resort operator began construction work in the vicinity of the existing P1 car park, where the new ski terminal is being built. As part of this work, a bridge over the Labe River is being built and the Přehradní ski slope in Hromovka, which will be connected to this bridge, is being completed.
