MILLER'S TOURIST AND NATURAL SCIENCE JOURNEY

A 17 km long route connecting the heart of the Krkonoše Mountains between the Czech village of Špindlerův Mlýn and Podgórzyn in Poland.

Due to the mountainous terrain and elevation, expect a challenging hike that will take at least a whole day, or divide the route into several days.

Variants: set off from the Czech or Polish side – you can start in Špindlerův Mlýn or Podgórzyn. If you want a shorter variant, take the bus, which will shorten part of the journey.

In winter, when snow transforms the landscape into a fairy tale, a sleigh ride to Špindlerův Mlýn is an unforgettable experience.

Who will enjoy the route?

Families with children who appreciate an educational and entertaining way of exploring nature.

Active couples and groups of friends who want a longer day hike or a multi-day adventure.

Tourists looking for cultural and natural experiences who want to discover less exposed places in the Krkonoše Mountains and less busy routes.

Cyclists and e-bikers — the route is also suitable for bikes (with places where you may need to dismount).

Winter enthusiasts — in case of snow, you can spice up the route by sledding to Špindlerův Mlýn.

What awaits you on the trail?

Natural scenery: layered mountains, mountain views, mountain meadows, and forests full of life. Every step reveals a different view — from wide panoramas to tiny details in the moss and stones.

History of mills: the trail is designed as a miller's journey through natural and historical attractions. Along the way, you will learn how local mills worked, why they were important for settlements, and how they influenced the landscape.

Educational stops: information panels will guide you through the flora and fauna of the region, the geomorphology of the Krkonoše Mountains, and the history of local communities.

Audio guide: each stop has its own story — just start the audio guide and listen to how the landscape comes to life through voices, stories, and sounds. This adds a personal dimension to the journey and allows for a better understanding of the place.

Cultural and community dimension: the project is the result of cross-border cooperation that connects people and institutions on both sides of the border. The route thus promotes the sharing of knowledge, traditions, and common goals of sustainable development.

Funding: the project is supported by the Interreg Czechia–Poland 2021–2027 program, which guarantees that it is a well-thought-out and long-term sustainable initiative.
