Since September, the Krkonoše National Park Administration (KRNAP) has been implementing enhanced measures to enforce the Nature and Landscape Protection Act.
The new system combines modern technology with clearly defined rules that motorists must follow.
For more than 30 years, entry into the KRNAP territory has been regulated by law. Nevertheless, there have been numerous violations of these rules. The KRNAP administration is now responding with a comprehensive set of measures that will enable more effective monitoring of compliance and protection of the rare natural wealth of the Krkonoše Mountains.
Camera telematics system for monitoring and data analysis
The cornerstone of the new system is a camera telematics system that allows remote monitoring and analysis of data from passing vehicles. There are currently nine cameras deployed in the Krkonoše Mountains, with a tenth to be added by the end of the year. The KRNAP administration plans to expand the system to 30 cameras, which will significantly increase the park's coverage.
Online registration of vehicles with right of entry
To facilitate and streamline checks, the KRNAP Administration has introduced online registration of vehicles with right of entry to the KRNAP. Registration is possible at https://vjezd.krnap.cz. Alternatively, it is possible to register in person at the KRNAP Administration's information centers.
The application is intended for registered owners and operators of buildings located outside the KRNAP quiet zones. After registering a vehicle, the system automatically generates and sends an email with the designated route that must be followed to reach the building. Vehicles registered in this way are automatically identified by the system as legal entries.
Checking unknown vehicles
If the system detects an unknown vehicle, the KRNAP Administration may ask the operator to prove the legitimacy of the entry. This measure aims to detect unauthorized entries and ensure compliance with nature conservation rules.
Who has the right to enter the KRNAP territory?
The following groups of people have the right to enter the KRNAP territory:
Residents with permanent residence in the KRNAP municipalities
Owners and tenants of real estate in KRNAP
Employees and entrepreneurs who work in the park (only to and from work)
Supply and service providers
Accommodated guests (only to the accommodation facility and back by the same route)
Emergency services, Mountain Rescue Service, KRNAP Administration, army, police, and network administrators
Entry for others is only possible with an exception
Other motorists may enter the KRNAP territory only after an exception has been granted by the KRNAP Administration. The same rule applies to entry into KRNAP quiet areas – except for entities listed in the law, entry is only possible with an exemption. If you do not fall into one of the above groups and do not have free entry by law, you cannot legally enter the KRNAP territory.
New measures regulate entry and parking conditions
With measures effective from September, the KRNAP Administration regulates the conditions for motor vehicle entry on selected roads and determines the conditions for their stay in the park. The aim is to minimize the impact of motor traffic on the environment and protect the nature of the Krkonoše Mountains.
It is important that motorists are aware of the applicable rules and respect them so that, together with the KRNAP Administration, they can contribute to the protection of this unique natural heritage.
