NEXT WINTER IN ŠPINDL ON THE NEW CHAIRLIFT
When we hear the name Špindlerův Mlýn, many of us think of snow under our skis, sun above the mountain ridges, and that unmistakable feeling of being in our element. And it's about to get even better.
The project to connect the areas in the Špindlerův Mlýn Ski Resort is not just another construction investment — it is an ambitious vision that pushes the boundaries of comfort, safety, and the size of the ski areas. And best of all, next winter, many will enjoy the new six-seat heated chairlift with a protective bubble.
A connection that makes sense:
The long-term goal of the resort was to connect the previously separate main parts — Svatý Petr and Medvědín. Each of these two areas has its own charm: the sunny slopes of Medvědín are perfect for an early morning run in the first snow, while the northern slopes of Svatý Petr offer firm, technical trails even in the afternoon. Until now, however, anyone who wanted to enjoy both in one day had to take a car, ski bus, or taxi. Complications, wasted time, and increased traffic for the town — all of this is slowly becoming a thing of the past.
New core of the resort: Terminal P1
The heart of the project will be the P1 parking lot, where the Elbe River flows into the Elbe Dam. This is where the lower stations of the new cable cars to Hromovka and Medvědín will be located, and a modern ski terminal will be built here. Two new ski slopes will lead from the terminal—one on each side—so that skiers can easily change slopes and continue skiing without having to travel by car. Two ski bridges (one over the Elbe and the other over the access road from Vrchlabí) will ensure a smooth and safe connection, and there are also plans for parking areas and infrastructure to ensure smooth operation. Both main parts of the resort will finally be fully connected — the effect will be immediate and significant.
The closest and most anticipated reality is the cable car from the P1 car park to Hromovka, which the Ski Resort plans to start building in the spring of 2026, immediately after the end of the season. It will start operating at the Špindl SkiOpening in December 2026.
Following this, the Ski Resort will complete the Lesní ski slope from Medvědín and build another ski bridge over the road. The project will then culminate in the construction of a new gondola lift towards Medvědín — i.e., a complete, long-term connection between the two main parts of the resort.
