KRKONOŠE BY BIKE? A CHALLENGE YOU MUST ACCEPT!
But be careful, it's not for everyone!
The Giant Mountains are not just snow-capped peaks and picturesque cottages. The Giant Mountains are also a paradise for cyclists! But let's be clear right from the start - cycling in the Giant Mountains is not for everyone! If you're looking for flat bike paths and relaxing rides, you might be on the wrong track. The Giant Mountains will test you! But if you like a challenge, love adrenaline and crave unforgettable views, you've come to the right place!
What to prepare for?
No flat Jizera Mountains, it's uphill here! And hard! The Giant Mountains are steep climbs that will test your fitness and determination. Most of the trails are on asphalt or wide gravel roads, so forget the smooth cycle paths. But most importantly, most cycle paths are on forest roads where cars are not allowed! So you can enjoy the peace and quiet of mountain nature.
Descents that will get your blood pumping!
But don't worry, there's a reward after every hill! In the form of long and steep descents that will get your blood pumping! You'll really have a blast here! Imagine the feeling of hurtling down, the wind whistling around your ears and you enjoying the splendour around you! It's priceless!
Electric bikes - your best partner!
If you're not sure about your fitness, or you just want to save your energy for enjoying the countryside, we highly recommend renting an e-bike! They are booming in the Giant Mountains and it's no wonder. Thanks to them, you can enjoy even the most demanding routes with a smile on your face. An e-bike will simply give you wings!
Cable cars and cycle buses - the smart solution!
Another great way to get to the top is to use the cable cars, which will take your bike for free! This is ideal if you want to save your energy for the descent, or just want to enjoy the view from the top. And if the cable car isn't running at the moment, or you don't feel like waiting, you can try using the bike buses.
Families with kids? The Giant Mountains won't let you down!
What about families with children? The Giant Mountains have something to offer for you too! There are plenty of educational cycle paths that are suitable for smaller children. What's more, you'll learn a lot of interesting things along the way.
Singletracks? Look elsewhere...
If you're a lover of singletrack, you'll be disappointed. You won't find singletrack in Špindlerův Mlýn and its surroundings. The closest one is in Trutnov. But you can still have a great time in the Giant Mountains!
Free-ride in Svatý Petr - for connoisseurs!
For those looking for something extra, we recommend the free-ride track in Svatý Petr. Here you can enjoy jumps, twisty turns and adrenaline-pumping rides! But beware, this track is only for experienced riders!
Respect nature!
And finally, the most important thing! Don't forget that you are in the Krkonoše National Park! That's why cycling is forbidden except on roads and local (not purpose-built) roads! And if you want to visit a location where bicycles are banned, you can. However, you have to keep your bike next to you. You must not ride it or you could face a hefty fine! Let's respect nature and treat it with respect!
