TEN PRINCIPLES OF SAFE BEHAVIOR WHEN MOVING IN MOUNTAIN AREAS

  1. Always carefully plan the route of the tour and the equipment for it (don't forget your medication). Plan the hike according to the physical and mental condition of the weakest in the group.
  2. Find out in advance about the weather forecast, snow and avalanche situation.
  3. Find out about the route and the expected return time before you start your journey. Choose the pace on the hike according to the weakest of the group.
  4. Using the map correctly, you will know the types of trail markings that are specific to each mountain range.
  5. Know the types of warning signs and what they mean.
  6. Do not move outside the marked paths.
  7. Take a first aid kit with you and be able to provide first aid if necessary.
  8. Know the contacts for Mountain Service +420 1210 or Emergency Medical Service 155. Always have a mobile phone charged and switched on.
  9. Are you familiar with the principles of behavior when hiking, falling avalanches or falling in exposed terrain.
  10. Never underestimate mountains and endanger yourself or others through irresponsible behavior.
