THE SECOND SKI BRIDGE IN ŠPINDLE IS NOW IN PLACE

Špindlerův Mlýn Ski Resort

In a single night, builders erected the steel structure of the new ski bridge over the main road from Vrchlabí to Špindlerův Mlýn.

The work was originally scheduled to take two days, but thanks to meticulous preparation and favourable weather, it was completed in a single go.

Above the II/295 road, near the end of the future Lesní ski run, stands another significant part of the project, which is set to radically transform skiing in Špindl in the coming seasons.

The installation itself was preceded by extensive site preparation and meticulous planning of each step. Within a short timeframe, it was necessary to coordinate the work of all teams, prepare the equipment and ensure the safe hoisting of the massive steel structure onto the pre-prepared supports.

The installation was originally scheduled to take two days. However, due to the weather forecast, the builders decided to make the most of the favourable conditions and speed up the work. As a result, they managed to complete the work in a single night, whilst also reducing the duration of traffic restrictions on the main road.

The new bridge is not the first to be built as part of the project. Back in November last year, a bridge structure spanning the River Elbe was installed on the opposite side of the valley.

These two bridges are a key part of the future ski link. Whilst the first structure spans the River Elbe, the new bridge will safely carry skiers across the II/295 road in the area where the new Lesní ski run ends.

In winter, skiers will therefore be able to continue from Medvědín towards the P1 terminal and then take the new Audi Line Přehradní cable car to Hromovka and on to Svatý Petr. All this without having to use a car or ski bus.

Once both bridges are completed, a continuous route across the valley will be created, forming one of the key foundations for connecting the two parts of the ski resort.

If construction proceeds according to the planned schedule, the first phase of the project is due to be commissioned in December 2026.

In autumn 2026, work will continue on assembling the cable car technology, installing the cable, completing the upper and lower stations, the snowmaking system and the final landscaping.

The first phase thus forms part of the overall planned link. In April 2027, construction is due to begin on the subsequent ten-seater gondola lift from the P1 terminal to Medvědín. Its completion is scheduled for the 2027/28 winter season.

It is this cable car that will, in future, complete the full two-way link between the two resorts.
